From time to time you come across self-serving fools who like to troll websites and splash their spam all over it. My Blogs suffer from this constantly and there is one who is constantly trying to spam a number of my sites day in and day out. I won’t mention his name as I don’t intend to give him any publicity or to in any way encourage visitors here to seek him out. I moderate my Blogs and only allow comments through that aid discussion of topics here in a useful manner, that don’t contain material I deem offensive, and that help to develop a sense of community. So if you must continue to post your material in the comments sections of my Blogs, rest assured that they are never read by visitors (or myself) and will never be read by them (or me). They are simply deleted and all of your time wasted. It will always be so.
I guess it had to happen eventually and so it has, I am taking some extended time off from the Blogs – aiming to return at the beginning of 2017 (possibly the 1st January 2017). Why? Burnout. Illness – you call it, I probably have it. Seriously though – I’m tired and can’t hold onto to good health, so a longer break is required.
Due to continuing bad health I am taking another break from most of my Blogs and will only be posting in an irregular manner over the next few weeks. I think I need to take care of myself a little for the time being. Hopefully, regular service will return before too long. There is nothing too threatening happening, just a long-term issue that flares from time to time.
Due to very poor health at the moment I have decided to take a break to try and recover to a reasonable extent before continuing with the Blogs. The timeframe is a little up in the air, as it is difficult to know how long the process will take – I am hoping it will be no longer than a couple of weeks, though one week is what I am hoping for.
I am also going to take this opportunity to update my technology, as I finally have an opportunity to upgrade my current laptop – which is a massive improvement on what I have been using over the last year.
It was my intention to return to Blogging today, however, I have had a significant accident at work today involving a ladder, height and a terrific fall – so I am very sore and incapacitated to a degree with some severely injured (typing) fingers (among a host of other injuries, including head injuries). Hopefully I can get back to Blogging sometime this week. Thanks all.
In May of 2009 Dr. Joel Beeke and I were in the Philippines to attend a conference on reformed theology in which Dr. Beeke was the speaker. During the Q&A session one of the delegates asked, “Can you be a Calvinist and at the same time proud?” To this question Dr. Beeke initially replied, “To be a Calvinist and proud at the same time is an oxymoron.”
Indeed, a proud Calvinist is a combination of two terms that have opposite meanings. A true Calvinist is one who humbly submits to God’s sovereignty. A proud person is one who places himself above God. A Calvinist prays with the tax collector, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner!” A proud person prays with the Pharisee, “God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector” (Luke 18:11-13).
I think the aforementioned question…

Just a quick note to let everyone know I’m taking a break from Blogging for the next week or so – possibly two. Thanks.
